By working closely with the Renewed team, Bedwas High School was able to invest in 40 refurbished Dell-OptiPlex systems. By opting for refurbished hardware systems with up to date software, the school saved £6,000. By realising this saving, the school could replace an entire IT suite within budget, rather than piecemeal replacement programme had they bought new machines.
As well as providing a significant cost saving for the school, refurbished IT equipment plays a big role in helping to reduce the school’s environmental impact. Each year millions of tonnes of e-waste end up in landfills as organisations upgrade their IT structure and replace it with new hardware. Choosing refurbished or renewed hardware reduces the mining of core minerals, reduces landfill as hardware is refurbished rather than thrown away and increases the longevity by up to 10 years. The combination of reducing the environmental impact and providing significant cost-savings makes the choice to buy refurbished IT hardware a simple one.
